For centuries, Shamans and healers have been using spiritual cleansing ("Smudging") to clear out dark negative energy from a person, place or thing and replacing it with light positive energy. 

Energy Clearing for your home or business can help release stagnant energy and improve the positive energy flow within that space. It is recommended before or after moving into a new home, opening of a new business, hiring or losing employees, receiving antiques from relatives, illness or death in the home, a new birth, and separation or divorce.

• Sage is antimicrobial or antibacterial which keep infectious bacteria, viruses, fungi and even repels insects.
• Though not scientifically proven, burning sage is thought to release negative ions, which help neutralize positive ions or allergens such as pet dander, pollution, dust and mold.  
• Scientifically, certain types of sage, including salvia sages and white prairie sage, contain thujone which is shown to be mildly psychoactive. It’s actually found in many plants used in cultural spiritual rituals to enhance intuition.
• It may help dispel negative energy to help establish a positive environment for meditation or another ritual. 
• A 2014 study documented white prairie sage (also known as estafiate) as an important traditional remedy for treating anxiety, depression, and mood disorders in certain cultures.
• Classic garden sage (Salvia officinalis) has been used to improve sleep and soothe anxiety.
• A 2016 studies noted that evidence for Salvia’s cognitive-enhancing benefits are promising and may help treat Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
• Some sage-like species closely related to white prairie sage have documented anti-fatigue uses.
• Sage is a lovely incense with a divine aroma, pure and simple which works great as a chemical-free air freshener or odour controller. 

Inhaling the sage smoke during smudging can aggravate any respiratory condition, such as asthma, and bronchiti. Wait until the smoke clears to going into the room.

Due to the complicated history of sage burning and the possible infringement of cultural and authenticity of the ritual and prayers, as a non-indigenous person, I do not take my practice of home or office smudging lightly and perform my rituals with the utmost of respect and honour by purchasing my products directly from indigenous sources in Canada.
