There are many ways to work with energy, and no two people experience it in quite the same way. I draw from a variety of gentle energetic practices, choosing the tools that feel most supportive for you in the moment. These practices may be incorporated into your Reiki session or offered as part of a deeper energetic experience.
The word chakra comes from Sanskrit and is often translated as “wheel” or “circle.” In many energy traditions, chakras are described as centres of energy within the body, each associated with different aspects of our physical, emotional and spiritual experience. The seven main chakras are located along the central pathway of the body, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Rather than thinking of chakras as something that needs to be “fixed,” I see them as part of the body’s energetic landscape. They can offer another way of noticing where we may be feeling grounded, open, supported or a little out of balance.
THE SEVEN MAIN CHAKRAS
Crown Chakra - Located at the top of the head, the Crown Chakra is associated with connection, awareness, spirituality and our sense of something greater than ourselves.
Third Eye Chakra - Located between the eyebrows, the Third Eye is associated with intuition, inner knowing, perspective and our ability to see beyond what is immediately in front of us.
Throat Chakra - Located around the throat, this chakra is connected with communication, self-expression and finding the courage to speak and listen authentically.
Heart Chakra - Located at the centre of the chest, the Heart Chakra is associated with love, compassion, connection, forgiveness and our relationship with ourselves and others.
Solar Plexus Chakra - Located around the upper abdomen, the Solar Plexus is associated with confidence, self-worth, personal power, boundaries and our ability to move forward with intention.
Sacral Chakra - Located below the navel, the Sacral Chakra is associated with creativity, emotions, pleasure, connection and our ability to experience and enjoy life.
Root Chakra - Located at the base of the spine, the Root Chakra is associated with grounding, stability, safety, belonging and feeling supported in the world around us.
SIGNS YOU MAY BE FEELING OUT OF BALANCE
Sometimes we simply know that something feels “off.” You may feel scattered, disconnected, emotionally overwhelmed, stuck or unable to settle. From an energetic perspective, these experiences may be reflected in different areas of the chakra system.
For example:
These are energetic perspectives rather than medical diagnoses. Chakra work is intended as a complementary practice to support relaxation, self-awareness and a deeper connection with yourself.
WHAT IS CHAKRA BALANCING?
Chakra balancing is a gentle energy practice intended to encourage a greater sense of balance and flow within the body’s energetic system. During a session, I may use Reiki, intuitive energy work and a pendulum to gently explore the chakra system and notice areas that may benefit from attention. You don't need to know which chakra needs balancing before your session. We simply begin where you are, and allow the session to unfold from there.
WHAT YOU MAY EXPERIENCE
Everyone experiences energy work differently. You may notice warmth, coolness, tingling, a sense of lightness or simply a deep feeling of relaxation. Some people become sleepy, while others feel more alert or peaceful. You may notice colours, images, emotions or memories arise, while others experience very little sensation at all. There is no “right” way to experience a session. You don't need to analyse or interpret everything that comes up. Simply allow yourself to be present and notice what you notice.
DURING YOUR SESSION
You’ll settle comfortably on a heated massage table and be gently covered with a blanket. Soft music, gentle aromatherapy and the warm glow of Himalayan salt and Selenite lamps create a peaceful environment where you can slow down and settle in. As with Reiki, communication during the session is kept to a minimum so you can remain relaxed and inwardly focused. You are always welcome to let me know if you need anything or would like to share an experience. I may use my pendulum as an intuitive tool to explore the chakra system before working with Reiki and other energetic techniques to encourage a sense of balance and flow. The intention is not to force anything or “fix” you. It is simply to create a quiet space where you can relax, reconnect with yourself and allow your own experience to unfold.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
Give yourself a little space to ease back into your day. You may wish to drink some water, rest, take a gentle walk or simply enjoy some quiet time. You may notice subtle shifts in how you feel over the following hours or days, or you may simply leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. There is no need to look for a particular outcome. Your experience is your own.
Crystals have been used across many cultures and traditions as tools for intention, reflection and spiritual practice. Each crystal has its own colour, structure and symbolism, and many people are drawn to particular stones intuitively. Within my energy work, crystals may be selected to complement your session and support a particular intention, such as grounding, calm, clarity, self-love or emotional balance. Rather than prescribing a particular crystal for everyone, I enjoy allowing the right stones to become part of the experience naturally.
HOW CRYSTALS MAY SUPPORT YOUR SESSION
Crystal work may help create a deeper sense of relaxation and intention during your session. Depending on what feels supportive, crystals may be:
You don't need to know anything about crystals beforehand. You can simply enjoy the experience and notice which stones you feel naturally drawn towards.
Mindfulness is simply the practice of being present with yourself — noticing your thoughts, feelings, body and surroundings without needing to judge or change them. In a busy world, it can be easy to spend our time thinking about what has already happened or worrying about what might happen next. Mindfulness offers an opportunity to pause, take a breath and gently return to what is happening right now. I often think of mindfulness as coming back to yourself.
THE THREE A'S OF MINDFULNESS
Awareness — noticing what is happening within and around you.
Attention — gently bringing your focus back to the present moment.
Acceptance — allowing your experience to be there without judging it as good or bad.
WHAT IS MEDITATION?
Meditation is another way of practising presence. It doesn't require you to empty your mind or stop your thoughts. Instead, meditation gives your mind somewhere gentle to rest — your breath, a sound, a sensation in your body, a mantra, an image or simply the experience of being still. There is no perfect way to meditate, and there is no need to “clear your mind.” Thoughts will naturally come and go. The practice is simply noticing when your attention wanders and gently bringing it back.
DIFFERENT WAYS TO PRACTICE
Mindfulness and meditation can take many forms. You might find stillness through:
You don't need to sit cross-legged on a mountain to meditate. Sometimes a quiet walk with your dogs or a few mindful breaths at the kitchen counter is enough.
HOW MINDFULNESS SUPPORTS YOU
With regular practice, mindfulness may help you develop greater awareness of your thoughts, emotions and body sensations. You may notice:
Mindfulness isn't about making difficult thoughts or feelings disappear. It's about developing a kinder relationship with whatever is present.
SIMPLE WAYS TO BEGIN
You can begin with just a few minutes.
Take a breath - Slow your breathing and notice the sensation of the breath moving in and out of your body.
Take a mindful walk - Notice your footsteps, your breathing, the sounds around you and what you can see.
Eat mindfully - Slow down and notice the taste, texture, aroma and experience of your food.
Try a body scan - Bring your attention slowly through your body, noticing sensations without needing to change them.
Pause - Put down your phone, take a breath and simply notice where you are.
There is no need to do it perfectly. Mindfulness is a practice, not a performance.
MINDFULNESS WITHIN MY SESSIONS
Mindfulness and meditation may be gently woven into your Reiki or energy work when it feels supportive.
Sometimes the most powerful practice is simply creating a little space to breathe, become quiet and reconnect with yourself.
You don't have to arrive knowing how to meditate. I'll meet you where you are.
Breathwork is a gentle practice that uses conscious breathing to help you slow down, become more present, and reconnect with your body. Our breath naturally changes with our emotions and experiences. By bringing gentle awareness to the breath, we can create space to pause, soften, and notice what is happening within us. Breathwork can be a simple yet powerful way to support relaxation, grounding, body awareness, and a greater sense of calm.
WHERE IT COMES FROM?
Breath-based practices have been part of yogic, meditation, and healing traditions for thousands of years. Today, many forms of breathwork bring these traditional practices together with a modern understanding of relaxation, mindfulness, and nervous system support.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Breathwork may be supportive if you are:
No previous experience is needed. Breathwork can be gentle and accessible for beginners.
WHAT YOU MAY EXPERIENCE
Everyone responds to breathwork differently. You may notice:
There is no right or wrong way to experience the practice. Your experience is your own.
BEFORE YOUR SESSION
To help you feel comfortable:
DURING YOUR SESSION
You’ll be guided through gentle breathing practices while resting comfortably and encouraged to stay connected to what feels right for your body. There is no need to force the breath or push beyond your comfort level. You can slow down, return to your natural breathing pattern, or pause at any time.
Breathwork may be the focus of your session or gently woven into Reiki, tapping, Somatic Life Coaching, or Yoga Nidra when it feels supportive.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
You may feel relaxed, refreshed, energized, or reflective after breathwork. If possible, give yourself a little space to ease back into your day. You may find it helpful to drink some water, move gently, or enjoy a few quiet moments before returning to your usual activities.
A GENTLE REMINDER
Breathwork is a complementary wellness practice and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or replace medical or mental health care. If you have a respiratory or cardiovascular condition, are pregnant, or have any health concerns that may be affected by changes in breathing, please speak with your healthcare provider before participating. Your comfort comes first. Breathwork should always be approached gently and within your own personal limits.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), often called tapping, is a gentle practice that combines mindful awareness with light tapping on specific points of the body. As you tap, you may bring your attention to thoughts, emotions, or sensations that are asking for a little extra care. This can create a sense of calm, grounding, and space around what you are experiencing.
EFT offers a simple way to pause, connect with yourself, and gently shift your relationship with emotions that may feel overwhelming, uncomfortable, or difficult to move through. You remain in control throughout the process, and there is no need to revisit difficult experiences in detail.
WHERE IT COMES FROM?
EFT draws from the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, which recognizes energy pathways, or meridians, throughout the body. Modern EFT brings these ideas together with mindfulness and an understanding of the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences. Today, tapping is used as a complementary practice within holistic wellness, coaching, and energy-based work.
WHO IS IT FOR?
EFT may be supportive if you are experiencing:
Tapping can be a lovely option for those who prefer a gentle, non-intense approach to exploring emotions and finding a greater sense of inner calm.
WHAT YOU MAY EXPERIENCE
Everyone responds differently to EFT. You may notice:
EFT is offered as a complementary wellness practice, with the intention of supporting your overall sense of wellbeing.
BEFORE YOUR SESSION
There is very little you need to do before an EFT session.
No previous experience with tapping is needed.
DURING YOUR SESSION
Your session takes place in a calm and supportive environment. I will gently guide you through a series of tapping points while bringing awareness to thoughts, emotions, or sensations that may be present.
You might use simple phrases to help identify what you are experiencing, or we may simply work with what feels most comfortable for you in the moment. There is no need to force anything or go deeper than you wish. You remain in control throughout the session and can pause, change direction, or stop at any time.
EFT may be offered as a session on its own or gently incorporated into Reiki and other supportive practices when appropriate.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
Take a little time to notice how you feel after your session. You may feel relaxed, lighter, or simply a little more spacious.
You may wish to:
If appropriate, I may share a simple self-tapping technique that you can use between sessions.
A GENTLE REMINDER
EFT is a complementary wellness practice and is not intended to replace medical, psychological, or psychiatric care. If you are experiencing significant emotional or mental health concerns, please seek support from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional. My role is to provide a safe, compassionate space for you to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and explore supportive practices that may complement your overall wellbeing.
Yoga Nidra is a deeply restful guided practice, sometimes described as “yogic sleep.” You remain comfortably supported while being gently guided through relaxation, body awareness, and quiet inner reflection.
Somatic life coaching brings gentle awareness to the connection between your body, emotions, thoughts, and everyday experiences. Rather than focusing only on the mind, we can notice what your body may be communicating and explore what feels supportive for you. My approach to somatic life coaching is trauma-informed, gentle and centred on choice, safety and your own pace.
Together, these practices offer a peaceful space to slow down, rest, reconnect with yourself, and gently explore what may be asking for your attention.
WHERE IT COMES FROM?
Yoga Nidra has its roots in ancient yogic traditions and has been adapted in modern wellness settings as a practice for deep rest, relaxation, and self-awareness.
Somatic approaches draw from the understanding that our experiences can be reflected in the body as well as the mind. This work gently invites you to notice those experiences with curiosity, compassion, and choice.
WHO IS IT FOR?
This offering may be supportive if you:
There is no need to have a particular goal or problem to work on. Sometimes, simply creating space to rest and listen inward can be enough.
WHAT YOU MAY EXPERIENCE
Everyone experiences these practices differently. You may notice:
There is no right or wrong way to experience a session. Your experience is your own.
BEFORE YOUR SESSION
Come as you are. Comfortable clothing can help you settle in, and if possible, give yourself a little breathing room before and after your session rather than rushing from one thing to the next. Most importantly, bring curiosity and allow yourself permission to simply be.
DURING YOUR SESSION
Your session may include guided Yoga Nidra, gentle body-awareness practices, reflective coaching questions, and grounding techniques. You remain in control throughout the session. You are always welcome to pause, change an exercise, or choose not to share something. We work at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for you. When it feels appropriate, your session may also incorporate Reiki or other gentle practices such as breathwork or tapping.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
Give yourself a little time and space to simply notice.
You may wish to:
There is no need to figure everything out right away. Sometimes the most meaningful shifts unfold quietly, in their own time.
A GENTLE REMINDER
Yoga Nidra and somatic life coaching are complementary wellness practices intended to support relaxation, self-awareness, and personal growth. They are not intended to diagnose or treat medical, psychological, or psychiatric conditions, and are not a replacement for professional healthcare. If you are experiencing significant emotional or psychological distress, please connect with an appropriate licensed healthcare professional. This work is about creating a safe and supportive space for you to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with yourself.
